Jags on The Green

The big day finally arrived after several months planning and obtaining permission from the Local Parish to park and display our Jaguars on The Green.

Numbers had been taken and food pre-orders forwarded to The Crown. During the preceding week a few of us kept an eye on the weather which didn’t look very promising, but we kept our “fingers crossed” that the rain would ease off for us.

Unfortunately the rain persisted and didn’t let down and the decision was made to proceed with the meeting, but park in the pub car park and eat inside. We still had a great turn out with the majority of the members attending including two new members. We also had a request from three non members to join us so they could get a feel for things and hopefully sign up in due course.

The car park was full of Jaguars and Daimlers. Most of us opted to bring our more modern cars and leave the old classics at home safely shielded away from the rain.

The Crown was soon full of Jaguar owners and we all started talking amongst ourselves after buying drinks and it wasn’t too long before our food orders started to arrive.

There was the choice of an afternoon tea or fish and chips, and as usual we were not disappointed with the quantity or quality of the food.

Personally I would say this is the best fish and chips I’ve had for a long while.

Many thanks to everyone who supported Area 33. Although the rain continued for the majority of the day we still had a good time. Hopefully next year we can get back out on The Green.

I hope our new members and non members had a brief insight in to some of the events and functions we organise throughout the year.

Hope to see everyone again shortly.
