Great Sunday Lunch

Sunday 25th February I woke up to quite a bright morning and with the meal only a few hours away I contemplated taking the MkIX out the garage for a nice run to The Anchor in Danbury.

After shuffling the cars around to get the car out the garage in preparation the weather looked like it might change as it darkened overhead. Only a light shower of rain was forecast and that wasn’t until mid afternoon.

We took the plunge and carried on to Danbury only encountering a few spots of rain. As we drove through Danbury we noticed the MkIX of our most recent new members, Neil and Julia only five cars ahead of us. What a great sight looking at Neil’s rear end.

We followed them in to the carpark and pulled up alongside them. Gradually more Jaguars turned up with a total of 22 members for the Sunday Lunch.

We were situated on two long tables and after getting our drinks from the bar, we made our choices and ordered the food. I went for the roast pork for the main course and wasn’t disappointed by any means. The portions were just the right size for me with ample side dishes of vegetables. The pork was the best I’ve tasted for many years. I then followed this up with spotted dick and custard and again pleasantly surprised with the size of the pudding. All round the service and food were great and in very nice company and surroundings

All the feedback I’ve received has been very positive and certainly a venue we would like to visit again.

We had taken over a large area of the carpark.

Looking forward to the next Sunday Lunch and hopefully use the MkIX for that one as well.

After all the shuffling around getting it out the garage the drive made it worthwhile as it’s such a different driving experience.
