There were 11 on the run this year, less than usual due to prior commitments of some members. But the Magnificent Eleven  (namely, Peter & Brenda, Tony & Anthea, Martin & Val, Kevin & Sue, Geoff & Tracey and Howard ) duly arrived on the Sunday afternoon. Martin and Val were already in the area but unfortunately arrived with their car in “limp mode” which curtailed their options on travelling.

The hotel was very accommodating and the service during our stay was excellent. We were fed and watered, ok wined and dined, very well with a varied menu. However the steak and chips was certainly a favourite at one end of the table !  Guess who ?

The weather held fine and warm until late Tuesday afternoon when a heavy shower passed through. Perfect weather for strolling around the various sights and destinations. The following day storm Agnes was due with strong winds but we were all headed home, except for Tony and Anthea who stayed an extra night to visit an old friend who lived in the area.

Many visited Gloucester, namely the Quays, Cathedral, Historic Dockyard, Waterway Museum and the town in general. Guess which intrepid couple walked in, around 3.5 miles ? But they taxied back, which was a wise choice, because it is very hilly on the return.

There were runs out to Tewkesbury, Tetbury, Cheltenham, Cirencester and  Bourton on the Water. Good to see that the Motor Museum is still going strong in Bourton plus the Perfumery. On club night you can sniff out who visited the Perfumery ?

Everyone enjoyed the run and in anticipation of attendees to the next Spring Run, it will probably be Sunday 7th to Wednesday 10th  April 2024 which is the week after Easter. The location is yet to be confirmed but two sites are being explored dependant upon whether steak and chips are on their menu !
